Taxi Maxík is a joint project of the Charta 77 Foundation – Konto Bariéry, its project SenSen – Senzační Senioři and Dr. Max pharmacies in the Czech Republic. Taxi Maxík is a service designed to transport seniors and disabled citizens around cities and municipalities in the Czech Republic. It is used primarily for transportation to healthcare facilities and social service facilities, but also, for example, to city offices.
Since its inception in 2014, these social vehicles have travelled more than 2 million kilometres and transported approximately sixteen thousand clients per year. The service operates in 27 municipalities throughout the Czech Republic. The goal is to expand to other cities. The project is financed by Dr. Max pharmacies from the sale of their own brand products. From each item sold, one czech crown goes to a special Konto Bariéry account every autumn, meaning that the project is also co-financed by Dr. Max’s customers. From these funds, the Charta 77 Foundation will purchase special large-capacity vehicles, which will then be handed over to cities and municipalities.
