As a real estate developer, we invest significant effort and resources in the revitalization of brownfields and their full use. This means these abandoned locations with their exceptional architecture can again become assets for future residents and tenants, as well as for cities themselves.
In the Czech Republic, we have found a suitable way to use the site of the former Walter Motors factory in Prague’s Jinonice district. At the same time, we have managed to preserve its character, including several historical buildings. We have succeeded in transforming and revitalizing a previously abandoned area into a modern urban district that offers its residents all amenities and services.
Another project that we are particularly proud of is the Nuselský brewery in Prague. The brewery was founded in 1694 and was to become the largest industrial brewery in Central Europe. Later, however, beer production declined and for many years it was just an abandoned brownfield. Now we are bringing the site back to life – in the listed buildings, both unique housing and atypical commercial spaces, and facilities for new services, which were missing in this part of the city, will be created.
Reconstruction of the Jurkovič Heating Plant in Bratislava, which we started in August 2018 as part of the SKY PARK project development, is an another example of renewal of abandoned place. The heating plant required a total investment of approximately €12 million. In addition to preserving valuable cultural heritage, we also created a unique industrial space for the public. The premises of the heating plant are now available to the general public in the form of a restaurant and café with gallery. In Bratislava, we want to continue with restoration of the brownfields. We are preparing the revitalization of the Chalupkova zone in Mlynské Nivy and also the Vajnorská project in the Nové Mesto district.
