Lukasz manages Warsaw office of Penta and oversees selected investments in retail and educational services sectors.
Lukasz joined Penta in 2013. Upon joining, he has worked on a complex turnaround of EM&F Group which was a diversified retail conglomerate operating across selected CEE markets. Successful completion of the turnaround involved a series of asset disposals, business turnarounds, refinancing and minority investor buyouts.
Currently, Lukasz is responsible for investments in Empik Group, a leading omnichannel retailer and one of the strongest consumer brands in Poland and Dr.Max, the biggest pharmacy chain in CEE undergoing rapid growth. He also oversees Speak Up, an educational services and technology company operating a chain of language schools in Poland and franchise provider in selected CEE, African and Asian countries.
Before joining, Lukasz has worked for over six years at McKinsey & Company, where he advised some leading companies in Poland and CEE on planning and execution of large strategic, operational and M&A projects. His professional expertise includes a number of sectors: financial, telecommunications, commercial, industrial and retail.
Lukasz Waszak holds an MBA from INSEAD Business School in France and Singapore. He completed part of the program at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. Prior to this, he received an MA degree in finance and banking from the Warsaw School of Economics.
